Closes: 2017-02-28

The School of Music and Dance seeks to create a new pool of qualified and available applicants (at times upon short notice) for possible temporary, part-time, limited-duration teaching positions in the music program. Positions may be one-term (ten weeks) up to three terms (9 months). They are limited duration appointments, which potentially are renewable for up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Areas of expertise may include performance-related instruction in brass, conducting, jazz, keyboard, piano and string pedagogy, percussion, strings, voice, and woodwinds.

Applications will be accepted on a continuing basis and this pool will remain active through February 28, 2017. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.

Qualifications:  Relevant university-level teaching experience or professional experience required. Master’s degree in a relevant field in music is required. In exceptional circumstances, significant professional experience in a relevant field may substitute for college degrees. The University of Oregon and the School of Music and Dance are committed to creating a more inclusive and diverse institution and seek candidates with demonstrated potential to contribute positively to its diverse community and to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

To Apply:  Complete applications include the following:

  • a letter of application that in the first paragraph clearly identifies area(s) of expertise for which you are applying from those named above (up to three),
  • curriculum vitae or résumé, and
  • names and current contact information for three professional references.

The application materials must be packaged as a single PDF file, using the applicant’s last name and search no. 160301 as the document title (e.g., Smith_160301.pdf) and emailed to musicsearch@uoregon.edu. This is a paperless search; contact musicsearch@uoregon.edu with questions or concerns.
