POSITION:  Student-Athlete Development Coordinator

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with experience

PERIOD OF APPOINTMENT:  Full time, twelve month position

QUALIFICATIONS:                          

Minimum qualifications:

Strong organizational and time management skills including event planning.  Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with diverse population.  Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team in an efficient manner.

Superior oral/written communication skills and public speaking experience.  Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and NCAA rules and regulations.

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, sports administration, or other relevant field.

2 years’ experience working with students in an advisory capacity.

Preference given to applicants demonstrating:

Master’s degree in education, counseling, sports administration or other relevant field.

Experience working with student-athletes from a wide variety of educational and socio-economic backgrounds.

Familiarity with and appreciation for the student-athlete experience.

Familiarity with academic programs related to sports business, sports management and athletic administration

Familiarity with service learning theory and college student development.

Familiarity with basic operations of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook.

Experience with video and photo editing software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist Student-Athlete Development staff to develop and implement innovative programs and individualized support services that empower student-athletes at the University of Oregon to make positive contributions to their communities and put them in a position to succeed in college and in life.  Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University of Oregon, Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA.

Assist with event planning, including large events (200-600 guests) such as banquets and smaller events throughout the year.

Serve as a resource to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee by assisting in preparation for and attending meetings as well as working with the student-athletes on projects of interest.

Manage all aspects of O Heroes including event planning, community relationship building, marketing, engaging student-athletes, and applying service learning theory.

Assist with the management and monitoring of the Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund; includes data entry.

Provide individualized and team support to a diverse group of student-athletes including resume development, goal setting and career planning.

Serve as liaison to Warsaw Sports Marketing program in the Lundquist College of Business.

Seek opportunities for business students to gain experience through Athletic Department by identifying internships, projects and volunteer assignments.

Work with student-athletes interested in careers in sports business to leverage Warsaw Center curriculum and experiential learning activities.
