Manages University of Oregon classified employee and labor relations, including collective bargaining negotiations and contract administration. Manages progressive discipline and grievance processes in a manner that supports positive, effective, and professional relationships with employees, union representatives, supervisors, managers, and administrators. Consults on a wide range of human resources issues. Reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer.

Advises supervisors and employees on performance management and other workplace issues; conducts investigations as needed; recommends solutions to disputes and/or performance or misconduct problems;
Provides consultation for supervisors and managers on disciplinary actions involving bargaining unit employees to ensure consistent and fair application of the principles of due process and just cause, as well as collective bargaining agreements and university policy;
Interprets collective bargaining language and relevant employment laws and policies for supervisors and employees;
Coordinates responses to employee grievances; prepares for and assists in presenting arbitration and contested cases;
Conducts training for UO managers and supervisors in contract administration, due process, and related employee relations issues;
Meets with union leadership, stewards, and representatives regularly to resolve concerns, problems, and grievances;
Serves as the UO representative in negotiations involving Oregon University System and Service Employees International Union (SEIU); represents the university at contract negotiations with Teamsters (printing employees) and Graduate Teaching Fellows Federation (GTFF) bargaining units; may serve as chief spokesperson; identifies and develops management strategies for collective bargaining; drafts contract language;
Coordinates with campus units (e.g., business affairs, payroll, etc.) on implementation and interpretation of contract provisions;
Human Resources Administration
Participates as a member of the Human Resources management team, providing assistance and problem solving on a range of human resource issues.
Carries out special assignments as needed.
Three years of experience in human resources, employment and/or labor relations administration.
Demonstrated expertise in negotiating, facilitating, or mediating the resolution of employment or human resource issues.
Skills in managing a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with employees from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with various interest groups.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Position is subject to a criminal background check.
SALARY: Annual starting salary $80,000 - $110,000; excellent fringe benefits, including health, vision, and dental insurance, employer-paid retirement, tuition benefits for employee or an eligible dependent, sick and vacation leave.
