POSITION:  Assistant Director, Campus Relations/Career Counselor
SALARY RANGE:  $45,000-$50,000
PERIOD OF APPOINTMENT:  Full-time, 12-month fixed term
PROJECTED START DATE:  August 1, 2013

DESCRIPTION:        

The Assistant Director of Campus Relations supports the work of the University of Oregon Career Center by supporting students through career counseling services, instruction of workshops and career courses, and by representing the center in key university/campus relations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Student Personnel Administration, Social Work, Sociology, Human Resources, Education, Instructional Design or related areas
  • Minimum of two years of experience in career counseling and/or advising or closely related work with diverse populations (e.g., psychological counseling, social work, career-development instruction)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of career development, including career decision-making and job/internship-search strategies
  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated supervision experience of paraprofessional or professional staff
  • Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working with students, parents, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds in support of an inclusive and multicultural competent environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest Inventory knowledge and certification
  • Previous experience with career curriculum/program development, implementation, and evaluation in a higher education environment
  • Familiarity with college career services and resources
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating career services and programs
  • Demonstrated interpersonal counseling/advising, presentation/instruction skills
  • Effective customer service, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Creativity, initiative and positive attitude in carrying out responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals independently and in teams

DESCRIPTION OF THE UNIVERSITY

Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an enrollment of 20,000.  The Eugene metro area (pop. 215,000) is in a region noted for its dynamic quality of life and progressive cultural environment.  We are about an hour's drive from the Pacific coast and the Cascade mountains.  The University is an AAU research institution and a member of the Pac-12 Conference.
