Assistant Director, Business Office - Archive

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with experience

PERIOD OF APPOINTMENT:  Full time, twelve month position


Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field with emphasis in accounting or finance required.  Knowledge of fund accounting principles, auditing standards, reporting requirements and GAAP required.  Experience supervising clerical staff and ensuring adequate controls required.  Experience with Paciolan Ticketing System and  Banner Financial Information System preferred.  Experience working in intercollegiate athletics, governmental or public accounting preferred.  Candidates with experience serving the needs of diverse populations are strongly desired.  Position is subject to a criminal background check.


Develop and monitor department's expense budget.  Administer financial reporting including NCAA audit; Dept of Education EADA report and NCAA EADA reports.  Manage and supervise the HR, Payroll and Camp functions within the Business Office.

Budget and Financial Management

Develop department's expense budget each spring and monitor/report spending within each sport/support area on a monthly basis.

Administer financial reporting including NCAA audit; Department of Education EADA report and NCAA EADA reports.

Prepare audit work papers and participate in all financial reviews and audits.

Prepare budgets for post season bids and compile reports illustrating event-by-event profitability.

Business Services

Manage and supervise the HR, Payroll and camp functions of the Athletic Department Business Office.

Approve payroll changes and settlements for camps.

Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, rules and regulations including State, University and NCAA.

Develop and implement best practices for internal controls and efficient business practices related to payroll, human resource and camps.

Administer NCAA championship bids and special event settlements with promoters, including establishing appropriate ledgers in Paciolan Ticketing Systems.

Balance Paciolan ticketing system to university budget system.

Assist with post season travel and NCAA reimbursements.

Advise athletics staff on financial issues as well as business policies and procedures.

As back up for Asst AD - Approve transactions for: travel; accounts payable; accounts receivable; cashiering and purchasing.

Budget Oversight – Athletic Department Facilities

Work with Facilities management team to create and monitor operating budget.

Create reports to track overtime, temporary and contractor hours.

Assist with the establishment, encumbering and monitoring of long-term maintenance agreements from a budgetary standpoint.

Work with management team and utility providers to forecast and monitor utility usage and rates.

Other Duties as assigned by Assistant Athletic Director.
