2 Positions at 0.5 – 1.0 FTE
The University of Oregon Child and Family Center (CFC) invites applications for two part time to full time (0.5 – 1.0 FTE) Family Interventionist (FI) positions. FTE of the hired candidates will be based on project need and candidate availability. The FI works as a family therapist and service provider, serves as a liaison between families and communities, provides educational materials and brief interventions to families, conducts family and young adult assessments, and refers families to specialized services, as needed. The position is part of a larger federally funded grant to support parents and young adults in the transition to adulthood and independence.
Direct contact with families: Implements all aspects of the intervention, contacts families, conducts interviews, and creates and delivers feedback sessions which are based upon assessment data and coded observational video tasks. Organizes and communicates recent decisions and reminders to update staff on all intervention issues; maintains open communication with team members and project Principal Investigator (PI); works collaboratively with team members to accomplish goals; reports to Principal Investigator with all details relating to the intervention process, and receives ongoing supervision from the Principal Investigator regarding all aspects of intervention implementation.
Coordination and supervision: Coordinates services with community agencies; provides appropriate educational materials and community referrals to families and young adults; works as part of an intervention team. Attends staff meetings and participates in regular clinical supervision meetings. Participates in training and discussions/decision making regarding the most effective implementation of the models and ensures compliance with the intervention model and expectations of providing intervention to at-risk populations.
Records and assessment maintenance: Maintains accurate records, case notes, and video recordings of service activity. Conducts assessments and collects research data as needed.
This position requires a master's degree (research assistant), or a Ph.D. (research associate) in psychology, education, counseling, or related field. Applicants must have experience with behaviorally-based interventions, family- centered interventions with at-risk families, and collaborating with a variety of disciplines and social service agencies. Applicants must have experience working with children (through adolescence) and possess knowledge of child development. Applicants must have experience with intervention research. Applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and public presentation skills. Applicant must have experiences interacting with families, home environments, and parents. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to provide positive parenting feedback in an appropriate, clinically informed manner. Applicants must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Applicants must have demonstrated effectiveness as a team member. Multi-cultural competence and experience working in diverse communities is also required.
Preferred qualifications, in addition to the minimum qualifications, include experience with: 1) randomized controlled trial research methodology, 2) parent training/education interventions, 3) children with, or at-risk for, disabilities, 4) working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and 5) fluency in Spanish.
Salary: $48,000-$63,000 (1.0 FTE) annually, based on qualifications and experience. This position is funded by federal grants and is contingent upon continued funding.
