The Department of Geological Sciences (GEOL) seeks applications for a 9-month, half time (0.5 FTE) tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2013.  The department seeks a vertebrate paleontologist, with expertise in Neogene mammals  of western North America.  A successful candidate will be expected to conduct a vigorous research program and to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels on such topics as historical geology, dinosaurs, vertebrate paleontology and biometry.  This position supports efforts to revitalize use and curation of the Condon Collection of fossils of the Museum of Natural and Cultural History of the University of Oregon (http://natural-history.uoregon.edu/collections/paleontology-collections).  Applicants must have a Ph.D. in vertebrate paleontology, a demonstrated record of excellence in research, experience working in both museum and academic settings, and a strong commitment to teaching and public outreach.
