RANK & SALARY: Fixed-term appointment at the rank of Adjunct Instructor, 0.5–1.0 FTE, dependent on enrollment. Base salary range of $30,000–$35,000
STARTING DATE: September 16, 2013, through June 15, 2014 (possibility of renewal for total of three years)
DUTIES: Primary responsibilities of position will be to teach undergraduate and master’s students applied voice lessons. In addition, instructor will teach a weekly studio class, hear voice juries, and serve on recital and exam committees as appropriate. Other duties will be based upon the needs of the school and qualifications of the candidate, but could include courses in voice pedagogy, lyric diction, or solo vocal literature.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in music and/or significant professional experience required. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching, preferably at the college level, and significant accomplishment as a performer. We seek candidates with the potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.
MUSIC PROGRAM: The music program has an enrollment of more than 400 music majors and a faculty and staff of 85, plus 70 Graduate Teaching Fellows. A wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered from the baccalaureate through the doctoral level, including programs in performance, accompanying, music education, composition, theory, history, jazz studies, piano and string pedagogy, conducting, music technology, and music with a liberal arts emphasis. The school is designated as the only full-range professional school of music and dance in the Oregon University System.
