The Department of Romance Languages seeks to build a pool of qualified applicants for possible instructional positions in French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish (lower and upper- division language and culture classes and upper-division literature and linguistics classes).  Positions are non-tenure-track and may be part-time, temporary or of limited duration not to exceed one year, and may be renewed for up to a total of three years, depending on need, funding and performance.  Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.  Contract offer is contingent upon demonstration of professional-level proficiency (e.g. ACTFL Superior) in both English and the target language.

Applicants must have a master’s degree in the relevant Romance language or related field.  Those teaching upper-division literature, culture, and linguistics courses (numbered 315 and above) must hold a Ph.D. in the relevant field.

Our multi-sectioned programs value creative teachers who work well in a collaborative environment, with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.  Candidates should submit documentation of (1) successful college-level teaching experience appropriate to our lower- and upper-division needs; (2) experience in curriculum development, proficiency assessment, service learning, or other areas of program development.

Please send the above-mentioned documentation with a cover letter, vita, and three letters of recommendation to Teaching Pool Committee, Department of Romance Languages, 1233 University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1233.  Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis, and pool will remain active through 11/30/2013.
