Title:  McMorran House Events Manager
Department:  University Development
Reports To:  Director, Donor Relations, Special Events and Volunteer Coordination
Term:  1.0 FTE for 12 months (renewable annually)
Salary Range:  $35,000 - $45,000

General Responsibilities:  The University of Oregon seeks applications for the McMorran House Events Manager in the Office of Stewardship.  Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations, Special Events and Volunteer Coordination, the McMorran Events Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of special events including, but not limited to, events for University Development, the Office of the President and other events at McMorran House.  Primary responsibilities will include the implementation of the strategic plan developed by the director to engage the university’s diverse internal and external audiences including the greater community, alumni, friends, faculty, staff, volunteers, and donors.  In addition, this position will maintain a systematic goal setting process and a formal evaluation procedure for advancement events.  This position requires direct contact with senior leadership, administrators, donors, volunteers, and prospects, as well as collaboration with staff and faculty across the university.

Qualifications:  Required qualifications include: a minimum of two years’ experience in high level work with university administrators; demonstrated ability to plan and design unique event themes; experience managing budgets and tracking expenditures; experience with procuring goods and services from, and negotiating contracts with, vendors; and excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office or similar applications.  In addition, the successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent attention to detail and follow-through; the ability to adapt as new situations arise; and the ability to travel, including nights and weekends.  A valid drivers license is also required.  Prior to hire, the finalist in this position must complete a criminal background check.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, communications, or closely related field.  Other preferred qualifications include: familiarity with the field of fundraising; experience with project management and organization; and the familiarity with the University of Oregon and its constituents.

The search will close at 5:00 PM on Nov. 15, 2012.  Salary is commensurate with experience.
