The Department of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Oregon invites applicants for a full-time tenured appointment to an endowed chair in architectural history effective Fall 2013. The chair is named in honor of Marion Dean Ross, an eminent historian of architecture and founder of the department (which has a long and distinguished history of teaching and research in architectural history). Among the dedicated resources available for support in this area is a substantial library fund for which the Ross Chair has principal oversight responsibilities. Located within the School of Architecture and Allied Arts, the position provides an excellent opportunity for interaction and collaboration with the Departments of Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Landscape Architecture, as well as with programs in Historic Preservation and Product Design.
The search committee invites applications from senior scholars, especially those whose research and teaching focus on American and/or Latin American architectural history; a substantive research interest in urbanism is also welcomed. Candidates must have a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and service, and a Ph. D. is required. The candidate should hold the rank of Full Professor at the time of appointment, although applicants at the rank of Associate Professor with exceptional records of scholarship and teaching will be considered.
