Educational Methodology, Policy and Leadership invites applications for adjunct faculty to provide supervision of practicum students in the stand-alone reading endorsement program. Students complete practicums in multiple locations in Oregon with most of them being in Bend or Eugene areas. Appointments may range from one to three terms per year and appointment level depends on supervisory load. There is a possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years based on program needs, funding and job performance.
All practicum supervisors must hold or have held an elementary or middle/high license in Oregon or another state or Canada and have a minimum of five years teaching experience at the appropriate level and/or content area. All supervisors’ licenses should include a reading endorsement; in exceptional circumstances individuals who do not have an endorsement but are qualified to have an endorsement may be considered. A Master’s degree is required and in exceptional circumstances a Bachelor’s degree with significant professional teaching experience may substitute for an advanced degree.
Successful candidates will have evidence of knowledge regarding reading, writing, and language development, teaching, and learning, familiarity with evidence-based research and instruction, demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse populations, experience designing and delivering professional development in literacy, and excellent communication skills. Ideal candidates will also have experience with data-based decision-making at a school and/or district level.
Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and the pool will remain active through June 30, 2013. Screening of applicants will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.
