Tenure-track position: Earth Surface Process Modeling, University of Oregon
The Department of Geological Sciences seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in the field of Earth Surface Process Modeling relevant to understanding how rock, soil, and water are transformed across the Earth’s surface by biotic, climatic, and tectonic forcing. We seek an individual who simulates physical, geochemical, and/or biological processes occurring in near-surface environments to investigate research topics such as weathering and critical zone evolution, low temperature mineral-fluid interactions, ecohydrology, carbon cycle geochemistry, terrestrial paleoclimate, landscape evolution, and geochronology. We encourage applicants who augment their modeling endeavors with data collection and observations. The successful candidate will use recent campus-wide investments in high performance computing and scientific programming and interface with the newly formed Environmental Science Institute. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct a vigorous, externally funded research program and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants must have a PhD at the time of appointment, a demonstrated record of excellence in research, and a strong commitment to teaching.
