Family and Human Services invites applications for its adjunct instructor/practicum/field studies supervisor pool. Appointments may range from one to three terms per year, including summer, and appointment level depends on teaching or supervision load. There is a possibility of renewal for up to 3 years based on instructional needs, funding and teaching or supervision performance. The department anticipates hiring instructors for undergrad level courses in the following content areas:  academic instruction in research methods in counseling and child and family research and human services, contemporary issues in addiction and prevention of addictions, family and community services, diversity issues, leadership training and development, community outreach; program development, implementation, assessment and evaluation; supervision of practicum/field studies students, service delivery and other research/education-related areas.

Duties may include practicum supervision, course preparation, classroom teaching, preparation and evaluating of student assignments and exams, and scheduled office hours. Some courses meet during evenings or weekends.  Limited travel within Lane County may be required for supervisor positions.

Successful candidates will have professional experience in one or more of the content areas listed above, demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching and a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds. Depending upon the nature of the position, a Master’s or Ph.D. in Human Services, Student Affairs, Service Learning or related areas is required.  In exceptional circumstances, a Bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience in a relevant field may substitute for a Masters or Doctorate degree. Previous successful experience with the course(s) and relevant experience in university level instruction is preferred.

Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and the pool will remain active through June 30, 2013.  Qualified candidates who will promote and enhance the college’s commitment to diversity are encouraged to apply. Screening of applicants will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.
