The College of Education’s (COE) mission is to prepare individuals to become leaders in the educational and social services fields as administrators, teachers, researchers, and related professionals. This position is in the Office of Development and External Affairs of the college and will be supervised by the Senior Director of Development and External Relations. The work of this position will impact the entire College.
The Director of Marketing (DM) will (a) manage and implement the college’s strategy for communicating its mission, programs and services, and value to the public; (b) work collaboratively with the college communities to orchestrate and integrate the college’s marketing efforts; (c) promote a consistent, recognizable, and positive college image; and (d) maintain and monitor college-wide policy and procedures related to image, branding, and communications strategies. The COE has an extensive portfolio of academic, research, and outreach programs a challenge will be to establish a branding and comprehensive marketing effort inclusive of this broad “footprint.”
The DM will develop strategic communications for the COE program and also will own the COE web experience. The DM will be responsible for (a) defining and enacting a roadmap for structuring the web design and architecture to foster widespread understanding and belief in the COE’s strategic messages; (b) developing, launching, and establishing a COE Virtual Community within the overarching COE website; (c) developing, enacting, and supervising processes whereby individual COE Program product owners ensure alignment of their products and content with COE’s top line strategic messages and within the overarching website.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, or closely related field.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in a professional position in marketing, branding or product development in education or a related field.
Project and process management and supervisory experience are required.
Preference given to candidate with marketing experience in a university setting.
Understanding of graphic design and digital assets, radio and video broadcast production, advertising, direct mail, print production, new and social media.
Must function effectively in a team environment and have the ability to grasp concepts quickly.
Inspiring and dynamic communicator able to effectively lead cross-functional teams
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to educators, administrators, development representatives and other constituents at various levels.
Strong customer service orientation.
