EUGENE & PORTLAND

The architecture and interior architecture programs at the University of Oregon invite applications for part-time and limited-duration positions to teach courses in professional subjects, including drawing courses, furniture design, fabrication, construction documents, as well as design studios.  Appointments may be from one to three terms, with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years depending on need, funding, and performance.  For a new limited-duration program in Fall 2012, we also seek applicants with native or near-native Mandarin Chinese language skills to lead a sustainable design seminar for visiting architects.

Additionally, we are seeking applications for three one-term distinguished visiting positions: The Frederick Charles Baker Chair in Architectural Design, with a special focus on the study of light and lighting; the Pietro Belluschi Distinguished Professor in Architectural Design; the Margo Grant Walsh Professor in Interior Architectural Design; and the Julie Neupert Stott Visiting Professor in Interior Architectural Design.  Appointments to the distinguished professorships are made from a continuing pool of candidates.

Successful candidates will have either academic or professional experience in their teaching area, demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching and a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.  A professional master’s degree or PhD is preferred.  In exceptional circumstances, significant professional experience in a relevant field may substitute for the advanced degree.  Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and the pool will remain active through November 30, 2012.

To apply, send a statement of interest and a current resume or curriculum vitae to:  Department of Architecture, Adjunct Faculty Pool, 1206 University of Oregon, Eugene, OR  97403-1206.  Phone 541-346-3656.  Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.

The University of Oregon is an AA/EE/ADA institution committed to cultural diversity.
