The office of Global Education, in the College of Education at the University of Oregon invites applications for its temporary online teaching pool. Salary is commensurate with experience, qualifications and number of students assigned to course(s).
Appointments may range from one to three terms per year, including summer, and appointment level depends on teaching load. There is a possibility of renewal for up to 3 years based on instructional needs, funding and teaching performance. The department anticipates hiring teachers for instructing at the secondary level in the following content areas: World Language: Mandarin and Spanish; Mathematics: Pre-algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus; Computer Science and Technology; Music; and Art.
Duties include course preparation, online classroom teaching, preparation and evaluating of student assignments and exams, and scheduled office hours. Some courses meet online during evenings or weekends.
Successful candidates will have professional experience in one or more of the content areas listed above, demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching and a commitment to working effectively with students. Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required. Teaching license preferred and/or Master’s degree preferred. Previous successful experience with the course(s) and three years teaching experience in K-12 education instruction is preferred. Position is subject to criminal background check.
There are no positions open to fill at this time, but applications will be accepted on a continuous basis and the pool will remain active through July 31, 2012. As positions open, applicants to be considered will be selected from this pool.
