TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:
... completion of courses or training in office technology; OR
... one year of general clerical experience which included typing, word processing, or other generation of documents; OR
... equivalent combination of training and experience.
In addition this position requires proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet, and MS Office applications; significant experience in customer relations/customer service required; experience working in a busy public arena; excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and simultaneous demands.
Prefer applicants with event management experience and experience with MS Publisher, Adobe InDesign, or Adobe Photoshop.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position serves as the central information source and is the first point of public contact for the Clark Honors College. Duties include:
... greeting visitors, answering the telephone, and responding to e-mail messages, answering questions, providing information to students, faculty, and members of the public, and keeping up-to-date on CHC deadlines, processes, and upcoming events.
... tracking front desk e-mail and phone activity, preparing monthly reports, updating the reception front desk manual, and assisting in training students for front-desk backup.
... opening/closing of public entrances, overseeing lounges and library, scheduling rooms within Chapman Hall, and assisting with events.
... processing incoming/outgoing mail, keeping mail records, and ensuring adequate supplies and availability of printed information and handouts.

1. Describe your experience providing reception and customer service support in a high volume setting. Please give examples that demonstrate your ability to provide answers/directions, complete administrative tasks accurately and deal with frequent interruptions.
2. Describe experience that demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, UO community and the general public from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
3. Describe your experience with event coordination and promotion, including arranging for facilities, catering, presenters, event mailings/posters, printing of promotional materials and budget tracking.
4. Describe how you would promote the Clark Honors College to prospective students, parents, UO faculty, current UO students and members of the general public if you were the CHC's receptionist.
