o Campus Operations at the University of Oregon invites applications for full-time Custodian positions. There are currently two vacancies.
o All positions will work GRAVEYARD SHIFT, Sunday night through Friday morning, and work alone in campus buildings. If you are unable or unwilling to work this shift, do not respond to this recruitment. Please note that employees who work during night shift receive a shift differential of $.75 per hour.
o These are classified positions represented by SEIU local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.
o University of Oregon positions that are at least half-time are eligible for excellent benefits, including health and dental, employer-paid retirement, tuition benefits for employee or an eligible dependent, and sick and vacation leave.
o Due to budgetary shortfalls, the person appointed to this position will be required to take unpaid furlough days between date of hire and June 30, 2013.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:

... ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to walk extensively, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis; ability to work with germicidal, sanitizing, and other cleaning products.

Position is subject to criminal background check. Finalist is subject to successful completion of physical exam and Essential Function Test.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Custodians are responsible for performing general cleaning activities in campus buildings, including offices, classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and stairways. Positions are responsible for cleaning 35,000 to 45,000 square feet. Duties include:
... sweeping, damp mopping, waxing, buffing, shampooing carpets; wiping, dusting, washing walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows; scrubbing showers; emptying garbage cans; picking up debris. Specific duties will be outlined at the time of interview.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Positions require ability to work with germicidal, sanitizing, and other cleaning products; occasional work on ladders, and ability to walk, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitious movements. Positions require daily trips outdoors.
