o University of Oregon Housing invites applications for multiple positions as Food Service Worker 2. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK ANY SHIFT, INCLUDING NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS.
o These positions work a part-time, intermittent schedule.
o These are classified positions represented by SEIU local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.
o University of Oregon positions that are at least half-time are eligible for excellent benefits, including health and dental, employer-paid retirement, and tuition benefits for employee or an eligible dependent, sick and vacation leave.
o Due to budgetary shortfalls, the person appointed to this position may be required to take unpaid furlough days between date of hire and June 30, 2013.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:
... one year of experience in a commercial food service facility; AND
... ability to obtain Food Handler's Card within two weeks of employment.
Positions require strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures; ability to take and understand Hazard Communication Training supplied by UO; ability to prioritize duties, maintain professional demeanor, and provide excellent customer service during rush periods; and good personal hygiene.
Position is subject to criminal background check.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position assists in the service of meals in residents halls and other University Housing food service venues. Duties include:
... stocking dishes, cups flatware and napkins on service lines; set up and maintain service lines and refill condiments, dispensers and food pans; some employees take food orders from customers; some employees may scan cards as payment or take cash and make change.
... assist in cleaning food service areas including clearing dirty dishes and trays from tables, cleaning tables, chairs, sinks, counters, fountains, and serving areas; sweep and mop floors; collect and remove trash; wash, sort and stack dishes; miscellaneous cleaning as assigned.
... assist Cooks in preparation of meals by frying, baking, steaming and grilling foods in residents halls and other University Housing food services venues. Assist staff in making cold sandwiches, salads, and dressings; cleaning, cutting and chopping fruits and vegetables; make coffee, beverages and slice desserts.
... assisting with miscellaneous tasks associated with the specific food service units, including loading trucks, driving deliveries to other campus locations and setting up and decorating tables for events; miscellaneous food service related tasks as assigned.
Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds infrequently and 20 pounds frequently; stand or walk on hard surfaces; stoop, twist, bend, reach, and grasp with high frequency; good personal hygiene is essential to performance of position.
