o The University of Oregon Housing Department invites applications for part-time (.5 FTE), intermittent Substitute Food Service Worker 2 in Catering. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK ANY SHIFT, INCLUDING NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS.
o This is a classified position represented by the SEIU 503, Oregon Public Employees Union. Substitutes work on an irregular, fluctuating basis when work is available.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:
... one year of experience in a commercial food service facility; AND
... ability to obtain Food Handler's Card within two weeks of employment.
Positions require strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures; ability to take and understand Hazard Communication Training supplied by UO; ability to prioritize duties, maintain professional demeanor, and provide excellent customer service during rush periods; valid driver's license with a good driving record; able to obtain a service permit from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission within 2 weeks of employment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position provides a service at special catering events in various locations on the University of Oregon campus. Duties include:
... providing attentive wait staff service to catering events, including setting up buffet lines, setting and decorating tables and dining rooms, serving sit-down dinners, pouring beverages and clearing plates; assisting in instructing and directing student and/or other food service workers in providing catering services.
... assisting in assembly and delivery of catering equipment to event locations, including tables, chairs, plates, and serving equipment.
... assisting in the preparation of catering meals, including making cold sandwiches, salads, and dressings, cleaning, cutting, chopping fruits and vegetables, making coffee and beverages, and slicing desserts.
... assisting with miscellaneous tasks, including breakdown and clean up of catered events, packing equipment, loading trucks, and transporting supplies to catering kitchen.
Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds infrequently and 20 pounds frequently; stand or walk on hard surfaces; stoop, twist, bend, reach, and grasp with high frequency; good personal hygiene is essential to performance of position.
